Skyrim's spell design in general is pretty bad (the main issue that you don't really get more options as you level up, you just need a new spell to replace the previous one which becomes obsolete, and you're in deep shit once you hit a plateau at master level but the enemies keep getting stronger), but illusion is the worst.
